Erika Lein, Ainsley Crossway Confirmed as Organization Heads

Erika Lein was appointed for a third year as the Wildcat Events Board President. Ainsley Crossway was confirmed as the Wildcat Media General Manager.

STUDENT CENTER – MPR. The newly-elected Senate had its first meeting featuring legislation this past Thursday. The two resolutions up for discussion appointed organization heads for the Wildcat Events Board (WEB) and Wildcat Media (WCM).

The meeting began with a special period of Open Forum to fill the vacant College Council student representative seat, who serves on the school’s College Council advising the campus administration. The College Council student representative is also an ex officio member of many different governing boards on campus – they are often the only student in meetings discussing campus decisions. No students ran for the position during the recent fall election.

Student Government policy dictates that a vacancy must be filled by one of the Student Government’s executives (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer). President Noa Lolona Haro and Vice President Jasmin Lutawan were both nominated to fill the vacant seat. After a brief executive session – a closed-door, confidential discussion without the candidates in the room – the Senate voted to select President Lolona Haro. The vote breakdown was not reported.

President Lolona Haro announced during his report that Student Government would be hosting a town hall in early December, modeled after the SUNY Poly town hall from earlier this month, with the intention of hosting these town halls bimonthly. He also announced that the executive board of Student Government was working on their annual reserves pull, though he did not specify what initiatives they were looking to fund. (Each student organization (SGU, WEB, WCM, Wildcat Esports, Club Advisory Board) is allowed one reserves pull per academic year, enabling them to receive extra funding outside of their annual budget.)

Vice President Lutawan reported that hiring for vacant Senate seats is still active (there are only six sitting Senators out of a fifteen-seat Senate). President Lolona Haro gave the Treasurer’s report – Treasurer Aidan Pena was sworn in at this meeting – highlighting that he had been working with Treasurer Pena on October monthly financial audit. Chief of Staff Jackson Beckmann spoke about the ongoing planning for Leadership Development Day, a required training event for all Student Government and organization officers.

The standing committees of Student Government gave their first reports of the semester – all announced either their scheduled meeting times, or reported that scheduling was still ongoing. The committee meeting times, as of publication, can be found below.

The first resolution up for discussion, R2627-05, nominated Erika Lein for WEB President. Erika, a senior majoring in Communications, served as WEB President in 2024-2025 and 2025-2026. She had been nominated to serve as WEB President in September, but was not confirmed by the outgoing three-member Senate. Erika was appointed Director of Public Relations a few weeks later, and now re-nominated for WEB President. The newly-elected Senate confirmed her appointment by secret ballot, though unlike previous organization head confirmations, did not take the time to deliberate internally in executive session before doing so.

Resolution 2627-06, the next legislative item up for discussion, nominated Ainsley Crossway for WCM General Manager (Wildcat Media’s head position). Ainsley is a junior studying Computer Science, who served as WCM TV Program Director in 2025-2026 and in the semester prior. The Senate confirmed her appointment by secret ballot and likewise skipped any internal deliberation before voting.

The livestream for the entire Senate meeting can be found on Wildcat Media’s Youtube channel, or by clicking here. The next scheduled Senate meeting is this Thursday, 12:30pm, in the Student Center MPR. Minutes from this meeting as well as next meeting’s agenda are expected to be released by midday Wednesday on Student Government’s Campus Groups page under Documents.
